handpoke vs. machine

The main difference between the two tattoo styles is how the ink is inserted into the skin. A handpoke tattoo is created using a sterilized needle that’s attached to a grip. The needle is then dipped in ink and pushed into the skin manually.

On the other hand, a tattoo machine has a small motor that moves the needle up and down very quickly in a cyclic pattern. But, it’s worth noting that both inking techniques are permanent and allow you to create unique designs.

is it more painful than machine?

Handpoked tattoos are generally less painful than machine-made tattoos. However, the amount of pain you feel depends on your pain tolerance, the artist, and where the tattoo is on your body.

how long does it take?

Machine tattoos are no doubt faster, but not by a lot. Handpoke can gain speed after a lot of practice.

is it permanent?

Hand-poked tattoos are just as permanent as machine-made tattoos. The ink is deposited into the second layer of the skin.
